EPG is an acronym for Electronic Programme Guide and is a very useful feature provided by a number of different DAB digital radios.
This service is broadcast by a number of radio stations (e.g. the BBC and Virgin) and is very similar to the types of guides you might find on Sky TV or on Freeview.
EPG enables you to see what is going to be broadcast on a radio station over the coming days and weeks and also allows you to get more detailed information such as the name of a presenter, a song being played and the artist of that song, and more details about the station and programme that you’re listening to.
Some EPG systems also allow you to set a timer for when certain programmes begin and to record your favourite programmes automatically.
In order to access an EPG you must have a radio that provides that capability – it is important to note that not all DAB digital radios provide this functionality.
When looking for a radio to purchase, ensure that you look out for one that states that it is “EPG Compatible” if you would like this function on your system.
